Karen Parr

Registered Nurse , Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Westmead Private Hospital.

Mother of two teenage children, committed to making the necessary lifestyle changes required at the grass roots level in order to make a difference that will have a positive impact on future generations. Committed also to further self development and learning in order to set an example and inspire other members of the community to do likewise.

Since being enlightened about the climate change issue I have made significant ongoing changes to my lifestyle. My biggest realisation was how greedy the human race is. How much we have taken from this earth. It's high time that we learn to give it back and live sustainably. I am on a huge learning curve and hope to set an example to my children, extended family and friends as well as the community.

Books I have read

The Weathermakers Tim Flannery ( A must!)
David Suzuki The Autobiography
The Stern report - summary
An Inconvenient Truth  Al Gore ( Book and movie)

Wayne Lever

Environmental educator from Glenhaven, owner of a five star rated sustainable house.   Wayne also is very resourceful and inspiring to listen to.

I have been involved with all aspects of the environment for the past 15years.I currently run a commercial cooking oil recycling business  where we recycle cooking oil from commercial kitchens, pubs & clubs & turn it into stock feed, chicken pellets, soap, biodiesel, bitumen, steel & some even goes overseas to undeveloped countries for cooking. I am lucky to have been able to build a sustainable home in 1994 which is used for educating students, builders, architects & the general public on how to be more sustainable, reduce our greenhouse gas emissions energy & water consumption.  Was operations manager (consultant) for the Ecoshow held in Sydney in 2006 & involved with Grex (Green Renewable Energy Exhibition) to a lesser extent in 2007.

Have been involved & run Sustainablehouseday for the past 5years.Currenly still run the recycling operation plus an environment consultancy & on Friends of the Environment committee for Baulkham Hills Shire Council. Also on Hills Against Global Warming committee.
